Alternate Universe

I recently had the chance to work on a new cartoon from Anthony Bourdain. Before I worked on it however, I honestly had no idea who he was. Apparently a lot of other people do though, and are huge fans of his show. These are some backgrounds I designed and painted. Characters were designed by Matt Jenkins, animation done by Kimson Albert, and directed by Greg Poretta. You can see the episode here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjHFaDt1s0U and the Travel Channel posting here http://www.travelchannel.com/TV_Shows/Anthony_Bourdain/ci.Anthony_Bourdain%27s_Alternate_Universe.show?vgnextfmt=show

Filler

I don't have much new stuff that's worth posting, and I was holding out to post something other than more backgrounds... but it's all i got! :

Cut scene from Superjail! The Time Police ep was running 4 mins over the alotted time, I think. This scene I thought was really funny, and was none too happy that it got cut.

Background for a pitch for Fox about Little bo Peep being a huge drunk. Pretty funny stuff.

Sidescrolling level design layout for an online videogame called Planet Cazmo. This is the underwater level where you can purchase subs and level up!

Combined Post

I had posted the 2 abstract piece's before, but had 2 new character drawings I wanted to post, and instead of making more posts... I just edited them into one.

This drawing is for someone who was looking to make a 3d model of a 'regular joe' character. Hopefully it's modeled soon!

I recently got Painter X, and have been having a lot of fun with it. The one at the very bottom was my first attempt. I tried to refine style a little more in the cityscape.

Ugly Americans

This is a pilot for Comedy Central I just finished working on over at Augenblick Studios called, "Ugly Americans." The backgrounds were a lot of fun, but this show has some of the craziest/coolest characters I've seen courtesy of Hal Lee (linked on the side) and Aaron Augenblick. It's a really awesome show and here's some backgrounds i did for it.

Planet Cazmo

I've recently been working with a studio based out of Massachusetts called Pileated Pictures (www.pileatedpictures.com) I've been designing the buildings for the videogame. The game is Planet Cazmo (www.planetcazmo.com) and it's a hip-hop driven online flash game where you can go in cool buildings and play mini-games.

Downtime drawings

Havn't had much ideas as of late for myself. This is some stuff I managed to come up with in between drawing for other people :D

Bobby B goes to the Grocery Store

Last summer I had the opportunity to work with some fine people at an animation studio upstate called 8 Hats High. It was a "eat healthy" cartoon commercial that was only broadcast in Arizona. A very talented painter named Gary Cooper colored them (www.portfolios.com/profile.html?MyUrl=garycooper)

Check out their site, they got some great work. www.8hatshigh.com

Superjail! and Kix!

Superjail!

These are some backgrounds that I've been designing for Superjail! Needless to say the characters are the real stars here, the crew designing them is fantastic. Working on this production has been nothing short of a dream. Everyone is amazing and great, I love being able to work with such a crew. The pilot is available on youtube to watch

http://youtube.com/watch?v=u43n51d7nVE

Kix!

I've also been doing backgrounds on a music video by a band called "The Real Tuesday Weld." My buddy George Fort (also superjail bg designer-check blog on right!) George is directing it and so far it looks pretty damn awesome. You can check out the first video George directed for the band here.

The new one promises to be bigger and better. Both are great songs, with some great art by George. These are some of the designs I did, Colored by George's wife Monica!

La Fam BG's

So I just finished up this sweet project with my buddy JJ. I designed and layed out the bg's, and due to my slowness and inefficiency working in flash, JJ worked magic and made em look awesome. Soooo, here they are

I forgot to link my friend's site and the link in which you can find the film.

Check out

More Bg's

4 more bg's from my thesis. The desert bg is the final shot in the cartoon in which it shows the alien machines flying across the now destroyed drive-in theater.

Alien Turnaround

Alien Character Turn around and some automobiles for him to destroy.

Zombie Dudes

Some characters I'm wokin on for a super secret project!!

Backgrounds

The War Room scene was the first bg I finished completely. It was also an experiment to see how the rest of the bg's would look. It was my first time messing around with brushes and other such things in photoshop, instead of just using the paint bucket.

Leap o' Faith

Having fun.

Pitiful HUMANS!!

Very early rough of a robot that was going to be the alien in my thesis. I'm glad I ditched it. And thank my advisor for telling me to do so.

Old, Old man

"Yes that's it sir...One pound of toe nail clippings please."

Backgrounds

Other bg's from my thesis. The piece in the bottom right was my brother's idea. In the cartoon the humans needed a way to destroy the aliens. What better way to do that then with a GIANT LAVA GUN...right?

The man looks like he knows what he wants!

I had done the piece on the left my freshman year in college.
I don't really do a lot of "Artsy" pieces. Up until now Animation
has pretty much consumed all of my drawing time. Now
that I'm done with it, I'd like to try doing this stuff more often.
It's a really nice change of pace.

Tales from the SKETCHBOOK!

Random stuff from my class notebook, and sketch
book. Sometimes when I want to draw, I have a
tendancy to not draw as well as I could. But when I
was bored in class, I would draw well...it's damn frustrating.

Open up and say..."AH"

I did this drawing awhile back. Every face is taken from various magazine covers.

Random drawings come together!!

These aren't "real" comic pages. I needed an interesting way to display some random drawings and experimented with this.

Zombie Concepts

Some zombie concepts done in marker. Did these at around 3 in the morning, sometimes you can do good work with little sleep.
